Goodbye Ben, Hello Kama and Lauren

Fairwell to Ben Wainwright who published this study on mesophotic reef associated fungi before accepting a fellowship at the National University of Singapore.

Hau'oli mau loa fellowship recipient Kama Chock has begun his work on Ohia rust, and undergrad Lauren Calkin is ptiching in with Vanuatu sample processing and the Plumeria time series work.  

Two summer REU students join the lab

Congratulations to Ben Hoyt on his UROP fellowship to study how endophytes can mitigate Ohia rust.
Congratulations to Katie Lund for receiving the Winona Pi'ilani Char Scholarship AND the Harold and Elizabeth St. John Scholarship which she will use in her investigation of marine fungi.
And big congratulations to incoming MS student Mason Chock for receiving the hau'oli mau loa fellowship in plant conservation.

You guys are making the lab look good!

Andre Boraks has joined the lab as a PhD student.  Andre got his MS at UNH studying population genetics and pathogen dynamics. At UH he'll be focusing on endophytes in Vanuatu and affinities with Hawaiian flora.
